Frequently Asked Questions
This page supplies general answers to Frequently Asked Questions and provides support for all models of Globalinx and Globalinx32 PC Software.

Q.  Do I need two phone lines to make the call forwarding feature work?
A.  No.  Globalinx utilizes the 3-Way Calling option available from the telephone company to connect the caller to your cell phone or forwarding number.  The caller is placed on hold at the phone company while Globalinx dials the forwarding number and then reconnects the caller to your cell phone or forwarded number.

Q.  How do I set the time on the Caller ID Display?
A.  On the very first call in from your local telephone company, the display automatically displays and sets the time according to your local time zone.

Q.  Can I set it up the Globalinx to answer the phone, make an announcement  "enter your access code now or please hold to leave a message" and on a keypress, ring the inside phones also connected to Globalinx and if no answer on the inside phone, ring up my answering machine?
A.  Yes, the Globalinx has two outgoing announcements which you record with your
instructions to the caller.  Upon the caller hearing the initial outgoing message, "Hello, if you know your party's extension, enter it now!", he can enter a key code to indicate that he is a caller known to you and the Globalinx will ring a port associated with that code number, i.e., Port 1, 2, 3 or 4.  If you do not answer that port, the ringing will then switch to Port 1 the local answer machine, where that machine can take a message.

Q. We have a business with two incoming phone lines and I intend to use this device on phone line #2 which is currently only being used as a fax line.  Can this device automatically detect if the call is a fax and then let the fax machine answer the call , or if not a fax, automatically forward the call to another number.  And can this alternate number be remotely programmable?
A. Yes, Globalinx does all this. And you won't need the second line.

Q. What I would like to do is eliminate my second line (the business line) and line-share on on the remaining house/personal line. If I keep separate phone numbers for house/personal and business can I use one of your products to simply look at the dialed number or sense distinctive ring and then switch the call out on the appropriate line (house or business)??  Thats all I need. Don't care much about call forwarding or call blocking of telemarketers.  If the product can do this, what add-on features would I need to buy from the phone company? I do not have caller ID, 3-way calling or any distinctive ring on any of my lines as of now.  I assume I need distinctive ring so the switcher box can tell what calls are personal vs business.
A.  You will need the Receptionist Model and at least one distinctive (custom) ring from your phone company and you won't need the second line anymore.

Q. What happens to settings when power is interupted?  Are the OGM an codes lost?  There doesn't appear to be any battery backup.   Also, what is the unit's behavior when power is interrupted?  Will connected phones function normally?
A.  No, Globalinx does not lose the code settings or outgoing messages when power fails and, yes there is no battery backup needed.  If power does fail your call will continue like normal.

Q.  We have Caller-ID built into our telephones and answering machine.  Does your PrivacyCall Plus product forward Caller-ID information to the telephone and/or the answering machine ? In other words, would we see the Caller-ID information on our phones?
A.  Yes, the PrivacyCall Plus model can allow display of your caller id info before processing the call as normal.  If the caller is unknown he will have to enter the privacy code to make your phone ring.

Q. When using the forwarding feature, can you forward to any international number?
A. The Globalinx was designed to handle up to 30 digits of dialed numbers along with delay features for dialing outside lines or delays in a dialed sequence.
